I've been using the underground (tunnelbanan) every day I've been here in Stockholm and it's such a civilized way of traveling, especially if you compare it to the tube in London. It's quick, reliable and the temperature in the trains is normal, not baking hot all year round like in you-know-where... I've also enjoyed the mid-century design of the stations, particularly the tile choices and the typography of the different stops. The trains themselves are dead ugly but I guess you can't have everything.
wow the underground tunnel looks so cheerful compared to the one in montreal... it's really dark and stuffy. and we're not allowed to take photos because the security people get suspicious!
ReplyDeleteis this still gothenburg by the way?
oh so sweet :)
ReplyDeletei fully agree with you,
but about the trains, these times they put on rails the old ones, so retro !! and the modern ones, well they ARE ugly, but i love that each wagon has a name, so cute !!
great serie of pictures :)
översta bilden, wow wow wow!
ReplyDeletejoanne: these are all from stockholm. I can't believe you're not allowed to take pictures in your underground, I can understand the reasoning behind not wanting people to take flash photography of the front of the train as it rolls into a station. but not being able to take pictures full stop is a bit mean :)
ReplyDeletealice: you live on the most beautiful line, I should go on it just to take pictures, it's like a wonderland down there!
ReplyDeleteIt looks much nicer than the London lines, the heat on the Victoria line is horrible. My favourite city transport is the S-Bahn in Berlin.
ReplyDeletesitter och suckar och stönar och saknar tunnelbanan. fy satan för spårvagnar
ReplyDeletei really like the typography of the stockholm underground (is it stockholm!?)
ReplyDeletelondon is distinctive in its way - but these colours are way nicer :)
the tube in Bilbao is clean, efficient and modern. But every stop looks the same... so aseptic and impersonal...
ReplyDeleteSwedish stations look cozier... :)
WOW! all this underground! These stops with the tiles and topography are wonderful, never thought I'd be inspired by railway stations! I agree with you...way better than the tube!
ReplyDeleteja, varför kan de inte här i XXXXX fixa tunnelbanan bättre?
ReplyDeleteSkall vi tala om för dem att fransmännen ju klarar Paris ... så de får tummmen ur i en viss stad?
