Earth Hour 2009

We did our bit for Earth Hour on Saturday evening and turned off all the lights. I'm always lighting candles anyway so it didn't feel particularly special, but I think it's a more than worthy cause to support! Did you take part?

Out of the house

This week's been one of those weeks where for one reason or another I haven't managed to spend much time out of the house, so yesterday we treated ourselves to lunch at our local. The weather is being nice and April-like, changing from blazing sun to heavy downpours in minutes. Still, I love this time of year when the trees bloom and the grey tones of winter quickly fade away.

Don't play with your food!

Or it might end up looking something like this... Apologies to all the grown-ups out there.

365

These might look familiar if you regularly look at my flickr stream, so apologies to you if you do. I'm really enjoying the daily challenge of taking a picture everyday and I have tried my hardest to not use the same pictures on the blog and for the project. Of course there are some days when it's impossible not to. Anyway, I thought I'd share some of my favourites with those of you who haven't seen these yet.

And the winner is...

KIPSTRIK!!! Woohooo! It seems that the snood is going to make it's way to Holland! Thanks to everyone who left comments for the draw and on the rest of the blog, I'm so touched by your heartwarming words and I send out big hugs to all of you. I must also thank my lovely assistant, the hubby, for doing the draw... He shook the hat until a strip fell out; a bit more fun than just a lucky dip! Hope you all have a great Tuesday and Kipstrik, send me an e-mail with your address please!

Sunday in the 'hood

We went for a sunny little walk where we live yesterday, the hubby walked me (I can get a bit cranky if I don't go out) and I walked the camera :) It's been sunny for a whole week now but I've lived here long enough to know that rain is just around the corner. I don't mind though, as long as there are wonderful days like these in between!

A bit of Monday fun now! I think this is how every Monday morning should start in the work place (I would have been so up for it in my office days), it would put you in such a great mood at the start of the week... Oh, and check out Napoleon at 2:59. P.S. This is one of my favourite songs evah!

Back in '98-'99...

...I was 24 and 25 which meant I could get student-fare plane tickets, which in turn meant that I could go and hang out with my friends in LA without it hurting my wallet. It's so much fun going through the old photos from those two summers, and also a bit sad; I'm sad that time flies and things change. But! I'm so glad to have the pictures to aid my memories, even though they make me feel like an old lady. At 33! Have a great weekend everyone!

Up and down in W1

Spent the afternoon in the West End looking up and down like you do. And yes, the weather tricked everyone by suddenly turning freezing cold again, so that balances out yesterday's post quite nicely...

A book question now... Has anyone out there read Haruki Murakami's "A wild sheep chase"? I've read and loved several of his books and this one is just, well... yawn? I'm half-way through and can't decide whether or not I should ditch it. If you have read it please tell me if it's worth sticking with, as he's one of my favourite authors I feel a certain loyalty, but reading a book one isn't enjoying seems like such a waste of reading-time...
Anyway anyway, Happy Friday y'all!

Hello Spring!

London's enjoying a rather lovely spell of weather at the moment. I've been cooped up indoors for the past few days so yesterday we met up with friends for a spot of lunch and a wander in Regent's Park. Quite a few people had brought blankets to sit on and were having picnics, and I thought to myself, "Of course, picnics!". Hibernation is no joke, it really is a case of shutting down and as soon as spring arrives, you have to be reminded of how to get back into the swing of things again. I'm not counting my chickens yet though, this is London we're talking about. It'll probably snow/rain/hail next week.

Thanks to all of you who've left comments on yesterday's post, what a great gift to hear from you all! If you haven't yet said hello, there's still lots of time left to win a snood!

My funny eye turns 1 = Giveaway

My oh my, time flies when you're having fun! It's my blog's first birthday today and there's only one way to celebrate: a GIVEAWAY! One of you lovely people will win a snood that I just put the finishing touches to yesterday, and all you have to to do is leave a comment here between now and 12 noon on Monday GMT. It would be really nice to know where you're reading from, but it's not a must, I just thought it'd be nice to know a little bit more about you :) I will announce the lucky winner next week.

I want to say thank you so much to everyone who has stopped by in the past 12 months, I've had a lovely year of getting to know so many of you and I'm looking forward to many more years of fun in this space. Your words of encouragement and appreciation means a lot to me, I really can't thank you enough! Good luck with the draw and have a wonderful Wednesday!
