I arrived a few minutes early for my piano lesson yesterday so I walked around and snuck some pictures. I wonder who did the decorating in the building, I mean what makes you decide that mint green is a good colour for all the wood work? I find it quite charming though, like a nice little antidote to all the super stylish white interiors out there in the world.
Maybe it's of the time. My late grandad painted all the doors of his house bright yellow, and the skirtings and other frames glossy black. Windowsills were orange and white.
ReplyDeleteI didn't think anything of it when I was a child. Now of course, I think it's a bit crazy, but also terribly daring and admirable how he painted it to please himself!
Parts of my daughters' school are also painted in this mint green and some in the most awful brown you've ever seen. So when I see mint green I think it's not so bad...
ReplyDeleteAnd I too wonder who take the initial decission... :)
neee va fint! nu tänker jag lite på edwardscissorhands-staden med pastellerna. fsat mycket snyggare då. och inte så hysteriskt "perfekt".
ReplyDeletekram - å ta't piano som man säger. :)
i've always been a mint green fan but i see what you experienced was an actual mint green explosion...where i live the entire stairway is painted in a sharp light blue that makes your eyes hurt : ) well but it has it's own charm.
ReplyDeleteha ha -i was just about to leave a comment about the color of our stair-way, but lea beat me to it!! quick neighbor! There are actually different shades of blue and they are all ugly!! i just don't understand how anybody chose those colors!!
ReplyDeleteIt is kind of charming. I love you angles and way of making these scenes beautiful
ReplyDeleteCharmigt är ordet! Jag gillar det på nåt sätt, hade kanske inte känt samma i en nyare byggnad, men ihop med det gamla är det nåt visst.
ReplyDeletedo you have you lessons in a minister's study? :)
ReplyDeletemy dad's a minister and would love this sign!
hello famapa. i love your photos very much. i just recently got a diana as well :) i always loved looking at pictures, but am still new to cameras and photography. your photos are inspiring. looking forward to seeing more of your beautiful pictures :)
ReplyDelete....and a yellow curvy ceiling!
ReplyDeleteI kind of like the mint green door!
How are your piano lessons going? Have you completed your first level yet? I remember it would take me exactly 1 year to complete 1 level when I was a little one. It seemed so agonizingly long when I was a child! You make me want to go back to play!
that shade of green is FANTASTIC! i also love that you are taking piano lessons!
ReplyDeletesopchan: your granddad's place sounds amazing, I hope there are pictures!
ReplyDeleteesti: maybe it's a school thing, there's a rudolf stiener school on the ground floor of that building but now that I think of it... I think it's all white downstairs!
em: perfekt är trist! måste se om edwards saxhand, det var ju 100 år sen sist! kram!
lea & mette: I had no idea you two are neighbours! I must have totally missed that... now which one of you will do me the favour and shoot some pictures from the stairway? :0)
kerry hawkins: thank you!
charlotte tollstén: vem vet, det kanske skulle funka i ett nyare hus... men jag tror inte att nån är villig att testa ;0)
mary: it's a great sign isn't it?! my classroom is the room next door. occasionally a man pops out of the minister's study as I'm having my lesson and sings along in the corridor to whatever I'm playing. he seems very musical!
kinako: hello fellow diana friend! how are you getting on with yours? do you get prints done? and thank you for your lovely comment :0)
celine: the lessons are going well! I'm not being taught in the conventional way so I won't be doing any grades. is that a good or a bad thing? it'll be a year in june though... get back on the piano lady, it's such fun!
pigeon.toed: you wouldn't love the fact that I'm taking piano lessons if you were my neighbour! which reminds me it's time for my daily practice...
oh man i have the worst memories of piano lessons..7 years...i wish i had enjoyed them.
ReplyDelete(these photos, on the other hand - so good)
i think it looks quite nice in there:)
ReplyDeletei have visited some schools in Russia, and for some reason (maybe order from the government, or they just happen to have liters and liters of that paint..) they were all painted with this same kind of mint paint.
it´s really funny cause it´s like the "official" color for schools there.
I was born and raised in Herefordshire England. Have lived in US now for 20 years. The last photo made me instantly homesick. Nice blog. Found you by way of the English Muse Come visit me, and please follow if you like. I have a new blog and I am loving followers!
ReplyDeletewe were just talking about how we had to photograph it, because its really run down and is hopefully soon renovated and painted!
ReplyDeletereminds me of a 1920,s style tea shop I worked in ,called Tea-time , um...quite a few years ago , on Clapham Common , London, oh ,It was a fun place, our authentic style long aprons and hats were THIS GREEN EXACTLY ! it was quite the bohemian place at the time
ReplyDeleteI don't know how "livable" those colors are, but these photos are lovely!
ReplyDeletevery lovely!!!
ReplyDeletethis color of green makes me think of ice cream... mint ... the kind with little flakes of chocolate... smothered on the wall and forever tempting me to taste it... love the soothing-ness of your images.
