Earth Hour 2009

We did our bit for Earth Hour on Saturday evening and turned off all the lights. I'm always lighting candles anyway so it didn't feel particularly special, but I think it's a more than worthy cause to support! Did you take part?

  1. I went so far as to switch off other electrical appliances, including the fan, and woke up from my 'Earth Hour Nap' 45 mins later, hot and sticky... sigh... the drawbacks of living in a tropical country...;p

  3. yes, we had the candles lit south of the river! and this year we could see that the houses of parliament took part as well. last year i was a bit surprised that so few large buildings in london switched off their lights.

  6. We participated too and it seems that many did in our neck of the woods. I live in Ontario, Canada, and it was reported that province-wide, energy consumption dropped by 15% during earth hour. It is nice to see when initiatives take off like that.

We were in the middle of cooking...but then we turned all the lights off to eat, and we watched a movie in semi-dark.

  18. Here in Spain, in small towns has hardly had an impact the Earth Hour. It was a gesture of solidarity with the planet but I think that it should not be a single day and we should take more responsibility with the consumption of energy every day!! ...
    As always,I love your photos!!
