The white stuff

Yesterday I got woken up in the best possible way. I could hear children laughing in the street and when I peeked through the bedroom curtain I saw some kids enjoying a snowball fight in a snow-covered and deserted road. There hasn't been this much snow here since 1991 and as usual the city shut down. There were no buses at all, the tube had only one line running and most schools were shut. What do to do? Go to Hampstead Heath in your best winter gear and release that inner child. I've never seen the Heath that busy and as this is not a country with snowy winters people improvised with what they could find to use as toboggans; For Sale house signs, cushions wrapped in bin bags, planks of wood and my favourite, the wax cloth. I love how a bit (or in this case a lot) of snow gives so much joy to so many and that everywhere you look, people of all ages have huge grins on their faces. The only question is how long will it last?

  1. i am so jealous! Copenhagen could surely use a real snow day: there is too much talk about financial crisis and tax-reforms (taking away money from students ofcourse...) -We need a real snow day to take out minds of it, breaking up patterns and get everybody out in snow together!

  2. very nice! it´s maybe sometimes good to "shut down" the city. when there comes this much snow people have to slow down. look around and also enjoy about it like kids do:)

  3. aaaah. vad fint! jag vill inte ha snö, men alltså VAD FINT!
    :D
barnen blir så glada!! its the best. för dom.
det ser ut som "slaget vid snögubben" - alla hopar sig uppe på kullen och därnere står den lilla snö-käglan med sin glada mun, ovetandes...

    hoppas det håller länge nu!

  9. I find it so cute and amusing how you are so excited about the snow. We used to get six months of that when I was a child, now I think it is one or two, which, believe me, is more than enough!
