Time travel II

For my 30th birthday in 2005 the hubby gave me a trip to Japan. Imagine my surprise! We had both wanted to go there for the longest time and when we were there we really got sensory overload; there was so much to take in. These pictures are from Kyoto, Tokyo and Himeji. I want to go back so badly. I'll show you some more from our trip tomorrow.

Oh and just to give you a flavour: Sushi Conveyor - probably the best video take home from a trip away - ever!

Update: here's another lovely one - thanks for the tip melanie & q!

  1. Oh what a coincidence - we are going to Japan for my 30th this year! :) I have not been there for 5 years and my boyfriend has never been so I can't wait. Your pictures are very evocative.

  8. There really is SO MUCH to take in. I went to Tokyo late last year... and took almost the exact same shot of a wedding procession at Meiji Shrine! But a Polaroid version. After the ceremony the wedding party went off to the side and the bride started changing, and I went up and gave the shot to her. From what I could tell she was really happy!

  10. alice: best 30th gift there is if you ask me ;) and you'll get to practice your japanese too! will you visit relatives when you go?

katrine ny: the tokyo tower is certainly inspired by the eiffel tower except it's orange and white :)

emma: mer kommer! och ja, den presenten går nog inte att toppa...

lea: you have to go if you can, it's truly an amazing experience!

    yasu: isn't it just! yuuuuuum!

teresa: it was really interesting to see, but the whole occasion felt so somber in a way. but my, how graceful the couple looked!

celine: the day I first saw that sushi clip we went for sushi for lunch. I just had to have it! if that isn't the best advert for sushi I don't know what is! and yes, go go go (for sushi and to japan)!
