In the right order

This was my Thursday, in order of pictures taken. We started the day by celebrating my sister's boyfriend's birthday with dim sum and cakes at Yauatcha. All that food called for a walk so we wandered down Argyll Street onto Regent Street and continued onto Cork Street where we got a sneak peek of a Julian Opie exhibition being hung in one of the galleries. We ended our stroll at the Burlington Arcade and did some silly window shopping (as if I'd ever buy a vintage Rolex!) and on my bike ride home the light was perfection so I had to make a stop in Regent's Park and admire a wonderful tree. Nice afternoon indeed.

P.S. I want to say a general thank you and welcome to all the new peeps that have left comments on this blog. I'm so happy you've found your way here to my little space and I really appreciate your very kind words. Happy Friday friends, old and new!

Quiet day

The unbelievably good weather is back again! I ain't complaining. It's so funny that this autumn might be the best weather we've had all year... Anyway, had a quite day yesterday, walking around my neighbourhood before having a bit of lunch and a bit of the sweet stuff. Yuuuuuuum.

For those who didn't click on toktokada's (thanks!) link in the comments yesterday: JR, the artist whose photographs were on the buildings in Wednesday's post. A-mazing.

Around W1

My mum and my step-dad have been visiting us in London for the last few days and yesterday we wandered around Soho in the rain. They had the biggest brolly I've ever seen! It didn't stop us from seeing the rather cool buildings above us though. There's a few of these dotted around town and I've forgotten who the artist is. Anyone know?

In the studio

Spent yesterday morning at my father-in-law's helping him out (he's setting up a website so I took pictures of his works), isn't it a great place? There are loads of lovely objects scattered all over the place and this is some of it. And who are the cats you may ask? Well, the grey one is Buster and the tabby is Moses and they are two of Little Mo's kittens that she had in '98. Moses was my little baby and would always climb up on my shoulder. I think he still remembers me as he was trying to climb up me whilst I was taking pictures. I'm not kidding, he was parked in that position for ages just looking at me. Awwww!

11 details

1. Clothes shop - I'm a cheapskate when it comes to clothes so I get almost all of my clothes from H&M and Uniqlo.

2. Furniture shop - I haven't bought any furniture for years but I only want to buy vintage from now on so I'll say Ebay & flea markets.

3. Sweet - Green & Black's Milk Chocolate, Swedish pick'n'mix (plockgodis), quinoa & date syrup bars and agave nectar as sweetener.

4. City - London. But I also loved visiting Amsterdam & Kyoto. And Stockholm in summer is pretty special too.

5. Drink - Water! Boring I know, but I love it. That and lots and lots of tea, any kind apart from lapsang souchong - yuk.

6. Music - Fats Waller, Billie Holiday, Duke Ellington, Robert Johnson, early John Lee Hooker, De La Soul, A tribe called Quest, Beastie Boys, Depeche Mode, Ethiopiques, funk, bossa nova, breakbeat, rare groove and recently I find myself only listening to classical music on the radio...

7. TV-series - The Wire! The best TV-show e.v.e.r.! So sad it's all over now. Otherwise I mainly follow(ed) comedy series: Flight of the Conchords, Curb your Enthusiasm, Arrested Development, King of the Hill & Family Guy.

8. Film - Rushmore, Seven Samurai, Red Beard, Napoleon Dynamite, The Virgin Suicides, Amelie, The Night of the Hunter, The Science of Sleep.

9. Workout - Pilates & yoga 2-3 times a week and cycling around London.

10. Pastries - Swedish cinnamon buns, sticky chocolate cake (kladd kaka) and scones with clotted cream & jam.

11. Coffee - Never. Don't like the taste at all.

I was tagged by Emma. I tag: Fanja, Asphalt & Air and Sandra.

Walls + floor

Is it me or has this week just flown by? Well, whether it has or not, our epic cleaning mission is still on-going and I'll be so happy when it's over. As the weather turns (there's a chance it might snow today!) I guess it makes sense to prepare the nest for the next few months of hibernation.

Came across this flickr set yesterday (swoon!), I dream about having tiles like these for our kitchen one day. Happy Friday y'all!

Craft central

Last night was craft-night and it was my turn to bring dinner, so I cooked a thai risotto. The chopping alone took me an hour! Quite ridiculous, but there's always something so satisfactory about cooking for friends, don't you think? Anyway, we all continued working on our little projects and I finally finished my scarf. It's soooo warm... and actually quite heavy! Next on the list to knit: legwarmers!

Messy business

Oh dear. I (I should say we) have somehow let things get a little out of control on the homefront. This is some of the sights that greeted us when we got home yesterday, and for those who know me you'll know that this is not like me at all! I don't know what's happened but it seems that as I've got older my tidiness threshold has been seriously lowered. Needless to say that after seeing this mess we went on a bit of a cleaning blitz. If you're wondering why there's a pan and a bowl in the bathtub I can explain... It involves Little Mo and some regurgitated catfood in our bedroom at 3am in the morning. Not funny.

It's here!

I was all over the place mentally yesterday and as a result I had completely forgotten to take any pictures. In the evening I went to pick up the hubby from the train station and when we got back he opened a package that had arrived for him in the morning. "Your blog is saved!!" he said. "What do you mean?" was my reply. And then he pulled this book out. I was jumping and whooping on the spot, we ordered the book back in March and I had completely forgotten about it. Here's a peek inside and here's the footage of it in full action again. You can also get it from here. It's called ABC 3D and it's by Marion Bataille, now go get it!

Oh joy!

Had such a lovely and relaxed weekend... Went round to my sister's on Saturday to say hello to her new kitten Min. Isn't he cute? The warm weather made me and the hubby go for a walk in the park yesterday, where a squirrel said hello to us, and then I dropped the hubby off at the train station where the light played beautifully amongst the buildings. What did you get up to?
