Oh to be a cat

Little Mo is, like most cats, a sun worshipper. After a long dark winter she's seems very pleased that she can, weather permitting, sunbathe all day long. She starts her day in our bedroom and then moves with the sun to the spare room.

I heart Bill Traylor

Today I share with you one of my favourite art books that I have. Bill Traylor (1854-1939) first picked up a pencil and started drawing in his eighties and proved to be an incredibly talented artist. I was introduced to his work by my father-in-law who also made the wood cut of Traylor that you see to the right in the last picture. It's so inspiring to think that it's never too late to start something new.

Lazy Sunday afternoon

Spent the afternoon at my nephew's house watching him being a knight and catching up with my sister and brother-in-law. They have so many wonderful things in their home.

After our shopping and breakfasting yesterday me and the sis went to Hampstead for a guided tour of 2 Willow Rd, a house built in 1939 by Erno Goldfinger (the architect of Trellick Tower in west London). It's a gorgeous building with amazing views of the Heath on one side of the building and a row of gardens on the other. I got acute house envy and was pretty frustrated over the fact that no photography was allowed. I bought a postcard pack with pictures by Simon Svard so you can see a little bit more of it. My eyes, my eyes!

The collaboration collection between Marimekko and H&M hit the stores today so me and my sis decided to meet up in town early to check it out. Luckily there was none of the frenzy there was when the Karl Lagerfeld and Robert Cavalli collections for H&M came out, there was like five women browsing. Now normally I'm a huge fan of Marimekko but the patterns, colourways and designs were pretty awful! I guess it makes sense that they keep the good stuff for themselves... Anyway, we bought a couple of things which are quite in-your-face but I like them... I think.

We went for a fry-up afterwards at The Breakfast Club (so filling!) and then made our way towards Hampstead Heath. I'll post about that part of the day tomorrow.

Shadowplay

I guess that you can tell by these pictures that the sun is back in action and all I keep seeing is shadows. I have a good feeling about summer this year. It'll be a good one. It just has to be.

Woke up yesterday morning and found that April had been joking around and left a blanket of snow behind. Weirdly I dreamt that it had been snowing that night so now I hope I'll dream the next winning lottery numbers :)

An afternoon on the Heath

It was a glorious spring day in London yesterday so I went to Hampstead Heath for a walk and a read. The warmth on my skin felt both unfamiliar and familiar and I daydreamed of picnics, BBQ's, warm summer evenings and cooling dips. The Heath looked a bit scraggly though, like someone who's woken up from a deep slumber with their hair on end and sleep creases on their cheek, a little worse for wear. But it won't be long now before she's gorgeous and radiant again...

On a knife's edge

It's amazing how much a person's face changes if you change the eyes. It's also amazing that you can hold the camera still when you're laughing so much.
