Ad free

Parts of the London Underground are looking beautiful at the moment. They're spending billions of pounds on upgrading the stations and the trains, but whilst it's happening some stations look like building sites. My favourite part right now is the walkway from the Victoria Line at King's Cross, all the ads have been pulled down and the walls rendered a wonderful grey. Personally I think they should just leave it like that.

Double tag

This week I was tagged by Esti & Brian. Because of the nature of this tag I've answered the questions that were in Esti's. If I answered the questions in Brian's tag as well I would in turn pass on a huge tag! Anyway, these are the rules:
1. Respond and rework. Answer the questions on your blog, replace one question you dislike with a question of your own invention; add a question of your own.
2. Tag eight other un-tagged people.

What is your current obsession?
Minuet in G major by Bach, I'm working my way through it on the piano.

What are you wearing right now?
Leggings, cropped baggy trousers, a long-sleeved t-shirt under a Rodebjer top, a mens cardigan, slippers and a home made neck warmer.

Do you nap a lot?
Sometimes.

Who was the last person you hugged?
Gazzarazza, a friend from my old workplace.

If you were a tree, what tree would you be?
A cherry tree.

What's for dinner?
Left-overs (prawn couscous).

What was the last thing you bought?
A pair of Clarks shoes, my hunt for comfy shoes is over!

What are you listening to right now?
The traffic in my street, the hum of the computer and the sound of me typing.

What is your favourite weather?
Sunny and hot, sunny and snow.

What's on your beside table?
Books, clock, water jug + glass, hand cream, earplugs, toys, a painting, a lamp, a japanese good luck token, an Alan Fletcher clam ashtray (inside it: lipbalm, paracetamol, inhaler, rennies and photo booth strip with me and the hubby on it from '97)

Say something to the person/s who tagged you.
Esti: ¡Hola! Que te pasa? Muchas gracias por el tag :) (is that right?)
Brian: I love the fact that are you're a man in a world of women ;)

If you could have a house totally paid for, fully furnished anywhere in the world, where would you want it to be?
In the Alps.

Favourite vacation spot?
Tough one... but I guess Bali will always be special to me.

Name the things you can't live without.
The hubby, my loved ones, Little Mo, my cameras, music, good food, a bike and comfy shoes.

What would you like to have in your hands right now?
A spoon to attack a huge serving of mango and sticky rice pudding with.

What is your favourite tea flavour?
Earl Grey.

What would you like to get rid of?
Nasty people.

If you could go anywhere in the world for the next hour, where would you go?
To LA so I could see my friends I haven't seen in a while.

Who would you like to get stuck in a lift with?
David Attenborough. There's so much to ask.

Have yourselves a wonderful weekend!

Diana fun

I have a little bit more of Sandra & Johan's visit to share with you today! Sandra & I decided to treat ourselves to the joys of the Diana + camera so we bought one each. I've been wanting to try medium format for ages and as a Hasselblad isn't within my budget at the moment, the little plastic Diana will have to do. As with any toy camera it's a bit of gamble (it takes me back to my Lomo days!), but I'm a bit annoyed that it cost me a small fortune to have these done and that in the end I had no prints! It cost £3.99 to have the roll developed (12 frames out of which 8 came out) and then £15.99 to have the neg scanned. And prints? £2.99 a pop! So I chose to go without prints and now feel a bit cheated that I shot a roll of film and ended up with them in a digital format! I'd really like to find somewhere else to have my film developed, anyone got any suggestions?

Colourific

I arrived a few minutes early for my piano lesson yesterday so I walked around and snuck some pictures. I wonder who did the decorating in the building, I mean what makes you decide that mint green is a good colour for all the wood work? I find it quite charming though, like a nice little antidote to all the super stylish white interiors out there in the world.

Short but sweet

Yesterday started grey, wet and windy but by late afternoon the sun persevered. I so hope we have a nice spring!

Cat tired

I know. The correct expression is dog tired but we don't have a dog... Yesterday was one of those days where I could only muster up enough energy to lie on the sofa and watch films, so we watched Red Balloon and In Bruges. You couldn't get two more different films but they both made me want to travel.

Last Monday

It feels so strange to be a whole week behind in my blogging! I took these pics last Monday when we walked into town for some dim sum at Yauatcha. The hubby was working when I went there with Sandra & Johan so lucky ol' me got to go again as my man was having serious dim sum cravings. I should be back to normal blogging by tomorrow. Happy Monday!

The last day

This will be the last post from Sandra & Johan's London visit :(
On their last day here we went for a short walk on Hampstead Heath before making our way to The Lansdowne for some gastropub grub. We also had a quick look at the view over London from Primrose Hill before we stopped on the way to the train station for a last fika at Kenwood House. It was fantastico to have them here and so much fun (and so much food!!), I hope they come back for more soon!

Thames side

Guess what?! This is still pictures from our Friday on the south side of the Thames. After hanging out at Borough Market we continued down to the river. Before Sandra & Johan came over here to visit we said that we were going to go and take our cameras for lots of walks. We weren't kidding.

Design*sponge have just put together a London guide. If you're planning a visit, make sure you print yourself a copy!

Curbside

We stopped for lunch at Borough Market and managed to find a bit of curb where we could perch in the sun. The light was amazing and the sun so warm. In the picture of Johan you can see a window that the sun is bouncing off on and it created a really interesting light to take pictures in. When the girl next to us lit up a cigarette we got terribly excited by how the smoke looked lit from both the front and back. I think she posed for our benefit... Anyway, it was nice to rest our feet, enjoy the sunshine and just snap away, left, right and centre.
Happy Friday folks!
