Gothenburg 16

I've never really travelled around Sweden so wandering the streets of Gothenburg with my perfect guides was a real treat. GBG is a great city with a laid back atmosphere and walking around I was reminded of lots of other cities; Amsterdam, Osaka, Stockholm and Seville (!). You'd turn a corner and the architecture would change completely. My second day in the city was spent taking in the world of Smosch, it was so much fun to see it all for real. I hope I get to go back soon :)

The meet

One boring afternoon in my old office two years ago, I was introduced to the world of blogs and flickr. Sandra's blog was the second one I stumbled across and little did I know that two years later I would hang out with her and her man in lovely Gothenburg. It's the first time I've met up with a fellow blogger and I can't even begin to tell you how fun and exciting it was. Sandra and Johan were perfect company and there was lots of walking, food, fika, vintage window shopping and picture taking. So much in fact I'll have to show more tomorrow!

Outtakes II

Some more outtakes from the past few weeks. It's nice to be able to give these a second lease of life and group them in a way that they wouldn't have been originally. I think I'll keep doing these as a series, everything deserves a second chance. Happy Friday!

A numbers game

On my way to and from my piano lesson I gave myself the challenge of finding interesting numbers. Sometimes when my eyes grow tired and stop "seeing" things I have to give myself a brief ( :0) ) and a deadline, to get my eyes going again. 

In care of

We looked after the hubby's god-daughter yesterday who has been a bit poorly lately. It was a day of a few quiet games, a bit of SpongeBob SquarePants and some snoozing on the sofa. A nice day. It was also sweet to see that retractable washing lines, with a bit of imagination, can be a lot of fun too.

Back to everyday life again

My mum has continued on her travels and yesterday I felt a bit blue as a result. But then I had the mundane to get on with; tidying the house, putting on washes and remembering to eat lunch. I always feel that having gone from having lots of people around to no-one is sometimes too big a contrast, even if it's only for a few hours. The hubby luckily only worked a half-day so I had some company in the end. Oh, and I found Camilla Engman's stencils for Third Drawer Down at Tate Modern at the weekend which we've finally put up. Goodbye boring kitchen tiles!

By the river

On Saturday we went for a nice walk along the Thames. We started at Borough Market where we browsed the foodstuffs on display and then we walked along Bankside where Mum could collect some new additions for her stone collection. I had no idea that lovely sign was even down there, I love the colours made be the algae. It was so nice to see people hanging out on the beach, I still can't get over the fact that you can just wander down there tide providing. I wouldn't dare touch the water though. If I put my hand in it I'm sure I'd come out with seven fingers.
