17 & 17

Today marks a very special anniversary; I moved here 17 years ago today aged 17, which means I've spent half of my life in Stockholm and half in London. This city has changed so much since then, the main difference being that in '92, unless you were loaded there was nowhere you could go for decent food! And London was actually a bit... well, boring?! Out of all my friends that I've known over the years who moved here from somewhere else I'm the only one who stayed. It's a city that can be incredibly hard on you, but it's a bit like surfing; if you catch that wave just right you'll have the time of your life!

I wish I could live in London, but my sister does so I go there quite often. I think I'll move there after I pass my BA here, in France.

  8. Completely agree with you - London does have a way of rewarding you if you stick it out! The first six weeks after I moved here were awful - I thought I'd made the biggest mistake of my life. Turns out it was the best thing I've ever done!

  14. hi famapa! congratulations for your baby! must be an exciting time for you all.and i have to say 'wow!' 17years in london.. as for me, london was overwhelming and hard to live in, especially as a foreign student for many reasons...(but it IS an exiting city as well) i guess you have to be very tough &strong-minded to survive in that city!

  15. wow, what an interesting period in your life. it can be super challenging living in a foreign country but i definitely think the positives far outweigh the negatives.

mmm, i thought you might have been in the nappie isle of the supermarket!
