What the 4-year old saw

Oomoo quite regularly asks me if he can take some pictures, and this was the first time he asked if he could at an exhibition. At one point I had to take the camera off him as he was too busy clicking away and not taking part in what was going on around him (sounds familiar…). I like how some of these are abstract; it was quite dark in there, and I haven't yet taught him the hold-your-exhale-as-you-take-a-picture technique (I'll save that one for when he's much older!). I look forward to going out on camera walks with him in the future. Have a great weekend people!

Ex-straw-verts

The place we spent the longest in at the Sensing Spaces exhibition was in Diébédo Francis Kéré's room, where visitors were encouraged to add colourful plastic straws to the originally white structure. As you can see some people took it very seriously!

Space sensing

Went to see the Sensing Spaces exhibition at the Royal Academy last weekend. It's very child friendly so we went with some friends and their two girls, and enjoyed walking/running/making things. More pix to come - including a post with just Oomoo's pictures from it (he's really snap happy that boy - I wonder where he gets that from?!).

Indoors

Do you like February? I sure don't. It's usually by this time of year that I lose my patience with winter, and when I just want to kick this grim season to the curb - hard. In the past couple of years I've managed to stave off the winter blues with vitamin D supplements and daily walks, but I've been slacking off this time and am bracing myself against it hitting me in the next few weeks. It doesn't help that we're house bound at the moment either, as we're having some work done in the garden. As a result I'm not taking many pictures, but thought I'd poke my head in here just to say hello. Hope February is treating you guys well.

Sunday at the museum

To go to one of the big museums on a weekend in London is probably one of the most frustrating things you can endure, as the crowds are generally ridiculous. But if you ask your child "What do you want to do today?" and he answers "Go to the Natural History Museum", you kinda don't give yourself any options. One Sunday we went down there, and yes, it was crazy busy, but as a result we sought out the quieter rooms. We spent a really long time in the minerals gallery, and on a freezing cold but sunny day it was such a treat to wander around it without feeling like an ant in an ants nest - haha. Happy weekend fellow humans!

Shoreditched

I ventured east with friends recently, and once again became that annoying person who all of a sudden stops to take a picture and forever falls behind. But I couldn't help myself; there's not much (if any) street art in my 'hood, so when I come across it I go a bit bananas.

Nine frames from Christmas 2013

Hello! Happy New Year and thank you for your comments on the previous post! Hope you had a nice break... we sure did. As you can see from the first pic Santa managed to track down some ravens for Oomoo - and knew that he didn't mean real ones :)  Christmas Day was very nice and relaxed, and my favourite part of it was making light paintings with the gang of cousins.
