Outtakes XII

I've been meaning to upload an outtakes post for ages and now that I'm ill and housebound I have the time to look through my archives and dig out some of the "forgotten" ones. Looking through my pictures from the summer (which all of these are from) I couldn't help but feel a bit sad; before having a baby another year going by felt rather insignificant, but that has changed now. Of course a lot of the time it feels like nothing much is really happening, but looking back at the thousands of pictures of Oomoo I realise that so much is changing right in front of my eyes and that I must pay attention and not take it for granted. I've never been one to hold on to the past but there are times (and I know there'll will be in the future) when I wish that I could freeze time. Taking pictures will be my feeble attempt at doing so.

  9. I know exactly what you mean! I feel the same way after having a baby too even though she's only four months old. A baby is really the most obvious proof of time flying! So much is happening all the time and they grow and change so quickly! It sure is important to appreciate the present!!!

  11. i once wrote this, in a post about my dog who was recently diagnosed with cancer at age 7 (he came to me at 4 months):

"life is a snapshot, really. it's one lived moment after another. captured one frame at a time. then compiled together, like some crazy unbelievable, brilliant collage. 4 months to 7 years at the speed of a shutter. the order doesn't matter. the end doesn't matter. the love in every shot and in between. that matters".

i try to live by that. my boy's days are numbered and my daughter will be 5 and has been with us just over a year. it is rushing by us like a warm and vibrant wind. i don't want to miss a second.
