Where did everyone go?

Went into town yesterday to run some errands and on my way home I walked from New Oxford St to Holborn. The whole area is a bit run down and deserted; a piece of real estate that is most probably suffering from the economic downturn. In better times someone would have snapped it all up and turned it into generic shops and coffee bars but for now time is standing still. I reckon that's a good thing.

  2. ja?! du kändes som den sista mänskan på jorden med den sista kameran på jorden här. men vackert blev det. vad hjälper det när man är den sista människan på jorden? men nu vare ju inte så. -tur att du både har sällskap och snigga foton.

  3. I love how the loops in both letters "y" in the first photo look like teardrops. Someone is very sad about saying goodbye to baby?

And I also love the sign for the tea rooms in the second photo.

  6. The tea room is especially beautiful. All cities seem to be suffering from this neglect. Though the generic shops make it worse, and soulless. Great photos.

the M in 'commonwealth' and the remaining bits of y in 'goodbye baby' are really poetic. so sweet.

  9. i love that photo where the tree grows from the roof. it´s amazing how the nature pushes it´s way in the cities. thru the asphalt and everything. that´s just super, i think:)

  12. Your photographs are fantastic...really evocative of a London I feel I know...do I recognise in one of your earlier posts a chequered table cloth and croissant from Maison Bertaux in Soho...I may be wrong, but I'm a detail girl!
    Great blog...
