A do run run run

On Sunday we went to cheer on my sister-in-law who ran her first marathon (in 4hrs 12 mins, I'm so proud!). I have never seen the point of marathons, I just thought of the runners as crazy people running way too far, but as soon as we arrived at the race I immediately changed my mind. I fell in awe of the thousands of people who were taking part in the purest form of exercise there is. And it actually looked fun. Luckily the weather held up and the crowds were cheering with all their might. I actually came away thinking "I want to do that!"... I think I will, one day.

We also thought we might have seen something like this. It's quite horrible, but also very funny (please excuse me if you don't find it funny) and very stupid; always listen to your body!

  2. Oh my God...that is the most extrodinary bit of film...I'm quite chuffed with myself for running at the moment, and have even slightly been fantasising about a half marathon...but Iron Man!!! What horrific scaryness, with the funniest (and quite horrible) voice over!
Love your photo of the skyscraper in the sky...and the balloon girls

  6. emma: det där klippet... galet eller hur? varför slet de så för 4:e plats??? ang. medaljerna var det ingen tvekan om vilken som var mest värd!

5ft Inf: glad you like this pix! just seeing my sister-in-law's progress it's all about the mileage you put in :) 10K, half-marathon and then the marathon. you can do it! but I reckon skip ironman eh?

luna: hats off for the half marathon luna, well done! I watched it on telly last night and it looked like so much fun (well maybe not everyone's idea of fun). the camera I use is a canon eos 400D, it's quite old now, the 500D just came out...

kerry hawkins: thank you! the commentary is hilarious isn't it?!!

  9. I laughted so much (and I felt for the two ladies). If you laught at this sort of thing, have you seen "total wipe out" on BBC1? - the commentary here is so over the top I laught the whole duration of the programme http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00gmmv8/Total_Wipeout_Fast_Forward_Episode_1/

(not sure if BBC iplayer works outside the UK)

  14. Jag vill också springa maraton. Jag önskar bara att jag hade sån glöd som tjejerna i klippet. Jag är ledsen att säga att jag har skrattat så att kaffekoppen välte här hemma. Men med beundran :-)
